BEL AIR, Md., August 1, 2018 – APG Federal Credit Union (APGFCU) presented a $15,000 check to the Miracle League of Harford County to support the construction of a new baseball complex at Shucks Road Regional Park.

APGFCU Community Involvement Committee Chair Paul Eikenberg presented the check to Tom Walls, founder of the Miracle League of Harford County. Walls and the league’s board of directors worked with County Executive Barry Glassman to obtain the land at Shucks Road Regional Park for the new field.

The complex offers children of all abilities the chance to experience the joy that comes from playing our national pastime – baseball. Custom-designed fields create a safe place for wheelchair users or visually impaired children to play the game, including cushioned rubberized field surfaces and wheelchair accessible dugouts.

“APGFCU is proud to support this initiative,” said Eikenberg. “As part of our people-helping-people philosophy, we look for ways to help those in our community who are at risk of exclusion. When we learned of this opportunity, we felt it was a perfect fit.”

The league is open to children throughout the community. Children from local church youth groups and organizations such as the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts act as “buddies” to assist Miracle League players. Every member of the team plays and everyone is a winner.

Supporting the Harford and Cecil county communities for 80 years, APGFCU continues to partner with local organizations to give back to the communities it serves providing charitable donations, man-hours and on-going support to more than 100 local organizations every year.

APGFCU is committed to building strong families for a stronger community with 14 locations in Harford and Cecil counties. Membership is free and open to everyone who lives, works, worships, volunteers or attends school in Harford or Cecil County. For more information, call 410-272-4000 or visit APGFCU.com.
